Search for Common Ground (Search), is an international conflict transformation NGO that aims to transform the way individuals, groups, governments and companies deal with conflict, away from adversarial approaches and towards collaborative solutions. Headquartered in Washington DC, USA, and Brussels, Belgium, with 55 offices in 34 countries, Search designs and implements multifaceted, culturally appropriate and conflict-sensitive programs using a diverse range of tools, including media and training, to promote dialogue, increase knowledge and determine a positive shift in behaviors.

The Project
Search is implementing a 18-month project “Watha Nolasho - Dadaab Communities for Peace" funded by the French Ministry that seeks to address the complex challenges faced by refugee and host communities in and around Hagadera refugee camp within Kenya's Dadaab refugee complex. With over 300,000 refugees, mainly Somalis, Dadaab grapples with protracted displacement, limited economic opportunities, and tensions between refugees and host communities exacerbated by environmental pressures and security concerns. The project responds to these issues by promoting positive personal agency and collaboration across divides to improve social cohesion and economic empowerment.

The overall objective of this action is to promote community resilience to violent conflict among refugees and host communities in and around Hagadera and Dadaab.
